When most people think about retirement, they tend to think of it in terms of numbers.

“How much money do I need to retire?”

“How are my investments doing?”

“Are all of my income sources going to cover my expenses?”

“Will I run out of money?”

And yes, the tangible details are important (it’s the cornerstone of everything I do!) but we can not afford to ignore the intangible.

That’s how to make sure that you are happy when you finally stop working. After all, happy people tend to live longer!

Now, I’m not going to get all wishy-washy on you with ‘game changer’ ideas on how to instantly up your mood. #thanksimcured

Today’s just a quick list of habits that I’ve observed in retirees that always seem to have a smile on their face.

1. They pay close attention to their diet and they exercise.

2. They have an active social life.

3. They have a real sense of purpose.

4. They’re always learning something new.

5. They’re not short on optimism.

6. They are thankful and practice mindfulness.

So how do you stack up? Does any of the above sound like you?

The great thing about every single point is that these are all behaviors you can learn!
